1800-2600 RMB/500ml is currently a common range for legitimate imported fetal bovine serum, but anything significantly below this range should raise suspicion of diverted goods, gray-market products, or relabeled near-expiry stock. Price differences may stem from distributor tier, order volume, exchange rates, near-expiry promotions, or channels mixing products from different origins. It is advisable to ask suppliers with different quotes to provide bottle photos of the same lot number, COA, expiry date, and customs declaration, and to inspect the goods on site before payment. For MSC culture, do not judge by price alone; after receiving the serum, retain a sample for morphology, proliferation, and surface marker validation, and only proceed with bulk procurement once stability is confirmed. Prioritize channels with cold chain capability, invoicing, and complaint-handling capacity.

Large price gaps for the same brand from different suppliers are very common with imported serum, so don't switch channels based on a low price alone. To verify legitimacy, I usually check three things: the brand authorization letter/agency certificate, the customs declaration, and the inbound goods inspection and quarantine certificate. Focus on checking whether the product name, specifications, lot number, and quantity on the customs declaration match what you received. Spot stock in a bonded zone is not necessarily a problem, but it must be able to issue invoices and provide complete cold chain records. For near-expiry relabeling, check whether the bottle lot number, production date, and COA match, and whether the label shows signs of re-sticking or scraping. Since you work with MSC and are sensitive to lot numbers, it is advisable to lock the lot number, run a small-bottle trial, and then discuss long-term supply.
